Every year on 30th April, Land Rovers around the world are celebrated under the banner of World Land Rover Day, and we’re delighted to be part of the 2025 movement, having launched our Defender hearse almost a year ago.
Chosen to mark the anniversary of the first Land Rover’s debut, World Land Rover Day is a chance for owners and fans to salute this iconic brand. From showcasing vintage models to sharing innovations in technology and design for drivers today and into the late 2020’s.
First introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, the vehicle, later known as the Series I, was launched with values of adventure and exploration. The car was initially designed to tackle challenging terrain with a raised chassis.
Quickly adopted by the rural population in the UK, it traversed off-road, providing valuable assets for farmers, travellers, and even the military. Overseas buyers were also quick to buy into the vehicle for its practicality and reliability.
A decade later, the Series II was unveiled, boasting a more refined design. Then in the 1970s, the brand celebrated its third Series launch and later the milestone of 1 million cars sold worldwide.
And so, the story goes that as the brand developed its urban and luxury markets to deliver world-class leading vehicles, it also provided life experiences for highly loyal customers.
From country squires to city slickers in 130 countries, the original ‘Landie’ and it’s Defender, Discovery, and Range Rover siblings are celebrated in their wide-ranging environments by owners and fans alike.
Our story began last year when we purchased and converted our Land Rover Defender into a premier hearse, fusing the needs of a 21st Century funeral director with independent Land Rover engineers.
A consistent theme from the families who choose the hearse, is that the Land Rover Defender allowed their loved one to have a fitting final adventure.
We’re delighted to be celebrating World Land Rover Day with our own contribution to the ongoing legacy of a unique brand.
