About William PurvesWilliam Purves founded his business in Marchmont, Edinburgh in 1888. The principles on which he founded his business have not changed. He was familiar with the pain and grief of bereavement, the sense of bewilderment and loss. He knew that time will tend such wounds; and that great sympathy, sound advice and practical help may help start the healing process. Today his firm, now in it's fifth generation, is one of the few privately owned and run family funeral directors remaining in Edinburgh. William Purves Ltd is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). As members we are required to abide by the code of practice laid down by the association.
