Arranging Music

For a service at any of the crematoria in Edinburgh or our service chapel, an organist would be available for the service. Usually the organist would play as people are entering and leaving the chapel. If you wish an organist to play a specific piece of music, you must notify us as soon as possible so that we can inform the crematorium. In some cases, if the music is a piece that is not well known, you may need to provide sheet music for the organist. The organist will decide if he is able to play the piece.

There is also an option to play tapes or cd's either at the crematorium or our chapel. In all cases, we must take the tapes or cd's to the crematorium at least 24 hours in advance of the service. If you require a tape to be played, the piece of music must be the only piece of music on a blank tape. This may mean two tapes, one for people going into the chapel, and one for people coming out of the chapel. If a cd is to played, it must be clearly marked which track is to be played.
